This app is designed both for Sail Boat Racers and Race organisers for timing starts.
The set up page lets the user enter the start sequence that is to be used (such as the normal 5-4-1 Go sequence) and the time of the first warning signal.
Then once the "Run" button is pressed the timing is automatic. There is a large count down timer as well as an ordinary digital clock.
In addition there is an audible count down to each signal.
One of the disadvantages of the Iphone is that the time is not synchronised to the second. This app overcomes this by allowing a synchronisation, either to the minute behind(in case the Iphone is running fast) or the minute ahead (when it is running slowly). This synchronisation is remembered so that it does not have to be done every time the app is used. It may have to be done again if the internal clock drifts.
Start sequences may have to be interrupted, eithe by postponing all
races that have not started, or with a general recall. The app allows for this,
including the complex situation in a multiclass start where the recalled class
is sent to the end of the sequence, and there is no deleay in starting the
other classes.
Once a start sequence is running the status is remembered, so the app may be left while other apps are run or the phone answered, and on restarting the app the count down sequence carries on from the current time.
